Blogging for thoughts

This blog is where I am going to record my thoughts on instructional design; on ways to working with faculty to assist them in the process of course design and in particular to reflect on what it's like for me to assist faculty in this process.

I have been doing this type of work for appoximately 4 years now. I have more questions than answers. I'm about to attend an institute in Ottawa for "new" faculty developers. I think of myself more as a change agent than a faculty developer and likely the former is closer to what is actually taking place in my practice.

instructional design - what is it? who does it? how do they do it? what do they think about it? does it make a difference? I am not the first to ask these questions, nor will I be the last. At the moment they are pressing as I embark upon a design process with faculty in applied science and health science.

This blog will be a place where i will attempt to answer these questions and others as they emerge in both my practice and my reading.
